- You might want to ask this question yourself - if I already have the first generation iPad, do I need to upgrade and get the new iPad 2 which is expected to be launch in March 2, 2011?
- Personally my answer would be a "NO".... Why?
- I can be proudly considered myself as one of the earliest iPad owner (bought it in April 15, 2010). The ways I use my iPad have changed in the early months. From the first month, second month and third month. I have Jailbroken it several times. Purchased several accessories for it including a wireless keyboard and the camera connection kit.
- But somehow, things have changed drastically when I bought the latest Macbook Air which arrived Nov. 4, 2010. The size, weight and power of MBA attracted me so much that I have used the MBA more often and less on my iPad.
- It seems that all the things which I did on my iPad can be done better on my MBA!! I rarely bring along my iPad to office since its proved not to be the best device for office work. My iPhone is sufficient to cater my iPad needs at office. At work and home, my MBA is my new "best friend".
- Thus, when rumors mentioned about the latest iPad 2 with its new specs, somehow it didn't excite me (like it used to excite me every time Apple launch a new product). For an Apple Fanboy, its weird eh?
- However, let's see in March 2 when Apple reveal the iPad 2 and see whether if there is truly a new breakthrough technology. Apple fans are also quite disappointed with the recent release of Macbook Pros. Hope, Steve Jobs will not disappoint the fans again...

- When iOS 4.3 is release, the unlock for 2.10.04/3.10.01 will also be release by the Dev Team as promised.
2011 New Macbook Pro Launched Today - Feb. 24, 2011
- Apple silently launched the latest Macbook Pro today via its Online Store.
- All-new quad-core processors. Thunderbolt technology. The FaceTime HD camera. MacBook Pro has more than its share of innovations
- It brings quite a number of negative comments since some felt it's not a big breakthrough. Gizmodo published an article "Why the new MBPs are not for most People".
- As for me, I need a bigger screen but very light and have bigger SSD storage packaged in an affordable price.
- Engadget has posted a video displaying the speed of transferring data.

[HOW-TO] - Watch .avi formated Videos in Apple TV 2
- At first I managed to install XBMC on my Jailbroken Apple TV 2 correctly.
- But I am unable to correctly install the Video sources.
- However, below is how I do it on my Macbook Air.
- You’ll need a jailbroken AppleTV and either the Boxee or XBMC apps. I prefer XBMC because I like its simpler and modern interface. Boxee is too bloated and I hardly use it.
- First, you’ll need to set up your Mac OS X (please go elsewhere for help on Windows; I’m a strict Mac user) to support SMB networking. To do so, launch your Mac OS X’s System Preferences -> Sharing -> (Tick) File Sharing -> Option -> (Tick) Share files and folder using SMB (Windows), and tick your user account followed by entering an access password of your choice. Congrats, you have enabled your Mac OS X’s SMB support!
- Next, you’ll tell OS X which folder or folders you want to allow Sharing, ie, give access to XBMC. Let’s share the “Downloads” folder where you are keeping your .avi/.wmv/.rmvb etc files. From the Finder, select the “Downloads” folder and right-click to select “Get Info”. In the pop-up Get Info window, tick the “Shared folder” check box under the “General” section, and you’re done.
- Repeat for any other folders you want to give XBMC access to. Although you can share an entire hard disk but I suggest you do not do that as both XBMC and Boxee will take seemingly forever to scan the huge contents! Just add individual Share points/folders for better management and privacy.
- To watch a .rmvb in the “Downloads” folder using XBMC, simply launch your AppleTV’s XBMC app from the “Launcher” menu and select “Videos” from the options. You should now see a list of folders except the “Downloads” folder because you haven’t added it.
- Let’s add it now; select Add Source -> Browse -> Windows network (SMB) [you'll probably need to scroll down to see it] -> WORKGROUP -> Your Mac -> Highlight the “Downloads” folder -> Confirm it by selecting “OK” [press the left "prev. track" button on the Remote]. Finally give it a nice name and save it. Done.
- Do note that when you enable a folder, you also enable every sub-folders within it. To exclude a sub-folder, “Get Info” on it and un-tick the “Shared folder” option for it.
- You can now select the newly added “Downloads” folder from the list, locate the .rmvb file and play it on your big screen TV!
- While watching any video, pressing and holding the “Play/Pause” button for a few seconds will drop down a Controller where you can control the video, make adjustments to its audio and video settings etc. Press “Menu” to dismiss it. You can also press the +/- buttons to adjust the volume, the left/right buttons to rewind/fast forward (press again to adjust the rate of change between 2X to 16X.)
- To exit XBMC, press “Menu” until you return to XBMC Home screen. Then press the left button to go down to the “Power” menu… and select “Exit” from the options.
[HOW-TO] ; Install XBMC on AppleTV 2G (Working)
NOTE: I have tried the method below but it doesn't work. Thus, I tried this one and it works!
After you’ve done that, follow these steps.
1st Step: Open a terminal app as you’ll need to gain SSH access to your AppleTV.2nd Step: Type ssh root@apple-tv.local – if that doesn’t work for you, instead of typing apple-tv.local, replace it with your AppleTV’s IP address which can be found under Settings then Network on your AppleTV.
3rd Step: You’ll be asked for the password to your AppleTV next. By default, it is alpine. If you have changed it, enter the password you chose on your own instead. You may be asked if you’re sure you wish to continue, just type “yes”.
4th Step: Once you are at the root menu, type (or copy/paste) this: echo "deb http://mirrors.xbmc.org/apt/atv2 ./" > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/xbmc.list and hit “enter”.
5th Step: Next type (or copy/paste) this: apt-get update and hit “enter”.
6th Step: A list of available apps will populate. Type (or copy/paste) this: apt-get install org.xbmc.xbmc-atv2 and hit “enter”.
7th Step: You’ll see the app begin to install and once it reaches 100%, you’re done. Your AppleTV should flash briefly and when the main menu pops back up, XBMC should be added.
After you’ve done that, follow these steps.

Sn0wbreeze 2.2 Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1
Another untethered Jailbreak solution for iOS 4.2.1 has been released today. This time for the Windows user.
iPhone developer and hacker ih8sn0w has released Sn0wbreeze 2.2 (aka PwnageTool for Windows) for creating iOS 4.2.1 custom firmware files on Windows. Just like the recently released PwnageTool for Mac, Sn0wbreeze 2.2 also incorporates the kernel based GreenPois0n exploit for untethered 4.2.1 jailbreak.
The highlight feature of Sn0wbreeze 2.2 is the new “Baseband Preservation Mode”. This new mode enables current iPhone 4, 3GS and 3G users to preserve their baseband while upgrading to iOS 4.2.1 so that they can unlock using existing version of Ultrasn0w.
Also new in Sn0wbreeze 2.2 is the ability to play Pac-Man game to keep you busy while the custom IPSW is being built for your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, along with the ability to change boot logos, thanks to GreenPois0n RC5/6 exploit. Fix for iBooks is also included.
Supported devices:
- iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G
- iPod touch 4G, 3G, 2G
- iPad
Simply follow the instructions posted here (from Step 1 onwards; Spirit2Pwn is not needed; Select iOS 4.2.1 IPSW file instead of 4.1) to jailbreak the above mentioned devices on iOS 4.2.1 untethered using Sn0wbreeze 2.2.
PwnageTool 4.2 to Jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 - Released!
- Finally Dev Team released the PwnageTool 4.2 to Jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 today.
- Use this tool to preserve the baseband for any future Unlock.

iPhone 5 a.k.a. iPhone Nano
- Is this for real?
- It was speculated that iPhone 5 will be release this Summer (or June) 2011 with the groundbreaking iOS 5. However, not much information but here's some of the rumors:-
- Apple designed A5 processor which is 4 times faster than A4
- Voice recognition
- Global Skype support
- No contract to telcos
- Nano size (?)
- Knowing Apple, they will not launch a "shrink iPhone 4" which is not groundbreaking. Apple is a "Game Changing" Company. It will certainly make a big jump for any new products produced.
- But sometimes we do wonder what more can be incorporated into iPhone? There might a lot more of wish list probably - I would like Augmented reality and more ambient intelligence built-in.

HOW-TO: Avoid FACETIME iPhone 4 Waiting for Activation Error
It was earlier reported that most owners who have problem with "Waiting Activation Error" either because the devices are new (as compared to others who bought much earlier) or they have updated the "Carrier" during the Restore or Upgrade firmware process.
I suspected its due to "Carrier Update" because I encountered this message earlier today when I attempted to upgrade my Firmware to 4.2.1 but I chose to ignore. However, it proved to be wise because when I tested Facetime - it works!
I heard some iphone owners (Celcom customers) who chose to upgrade their "Carrier" is unable to get their Facetime feature back.
